Challenger

I feel really good.

But something deep down won’t stop talking to me.

Like a broken toy that just won’t shut up.

You know more about myself than I do.

You know there is something I am shielding myself from.

Something I run from.

Like a sunscreen I never forget to put on, protecting myself from exposure to something I deemed dangerous.

Like a force that never moves.

Never goes away.

Never turns off.

How long will I ignore you?

Pretend you don’t exist?

Knowing you are everything.

Knowing you await my challenge.

Like a warrior.

Sitting.

Whistling.

Knowing you’ve defeated all else.

And that only one challenger remains.
